I have no respect for Curtly Ambrose: Chris Gayle
Ambrose had said that Gayle won't be an automatic pick in West Indies playing XI in T20 World Cup
Chris Gayle has come up with a very, very angry response to what the former West Indies fast bowler Curtly Ambrose said about him a couple of days back.
Ambrose had said that the way Chris Gayle has played in T20 international cricket in the last year and a half, he is not sure if the left-hander should be a straightforward selection in the playing XI of West Indies in the T20 World Cup.
Ambrose admitted that Gayle is the kind of player, if he gets going on a particular day, it’s very much possible that he can devastate the opposition bowling attack. But he has not done anything in the recent past to suggest he will do that and, purely based on recent form, he is not a guarantee in the playing XI.
Ambrose’s comments didn’t please Chris Gayle at all
Gayle was not really amused by Ambrose’s comments at all and speaking on a radio show earlier this morning, the Universe boss said that he has no respect left for the former West Indies fast bowler whom he once used to admire.
According to Gayle, in all the other countries, the former players support whatever team has been picked and the former players of West Indies should also do the same because West Indies has won two T20 World Cups and they are aiming for the third title.
“I can tell you personally, and you can let him know that Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss, has no respect for Curtly Ambrose whatsoever. I highly respected him when I came into the West Indies team. But I am now speaking from my heart. I don’t know what, since he retired, what he had against Chris Gayle,” Gayle said on the Island Tea Morning Show.
Gayle and Ambrose were both part of the West Indies set-up that had won the T20 World Cup in India in 2016. Ambrose was the bowling coach of West Indies for that tournament, and Gayle opened the batting for the men in maroon.
