The first practice match of India’s tour of England is currently underway, where the Indians are up against Leicestershire county. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first, but the decision has not worked in the visitors’ favor so far. The Indian team has lost seven wickets before touching the 200-run mark. Virat Kohli has been the top-scorer for India so far.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings for the Indian cricket team in this match. While Sharma scored 25 runs, Gill departed to the pavilion after scoring 21 runs. Hanuma Vihari lost his wicket to Roman Walker after scoring three runs, while Prasidh Krishna, who is playing for Leicestershire, dismissed Shreyas Iyer before he could even score a single run.

Roman Walker, who is yet to play a first-class match in his domestic career, was on fire on the opening day of the practice match. He completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli. It was a memorable day for the youngster as he dismissed both Kohli and Sharma on the same day.

Before the match started, former Indian selector Saba Karim had said that the visitors will miss KL Rahul. They surely missed him today because he was in sublime touch during the four Tests against England last year.

“Only one player is not available at the moment, that is KL Rahul. The way he had performed in the Test matches last year, the two Test matches India had won, KL Rahul had a huge contribution. So the Indian team will definitely miss him,” Karim had said on India News.

Video of Virat Kohli from practice match has gone viral on social media

Earlier this month, Joe Root grabbed everyone’s attention by balancing his bat while standing at the non-striker’s end.

Virat Kohli tried the same but could not pull it off. Here is the video of that incident, followed by Twitter reactions:
