Deepak Hooda would have idolized Sachin Tendulkar as a batter while growing up. The Baroda youngster was quite young when Tendulkar won matches for the Indian cricket team by scoring heaps of runs for the team. However, in 2022, Deepak Hooda has now broken a national record that was previously held by Sachin.

The second T20I of the series between the Indian cricket team and the Ireland cricket team is underway in Dublin right now. Indian captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bat first in the second T20I. The decision worked in India’s favor as the batters took advantage of the conditions and helped the Men in Blue post a 200+ score on the board.

Opener Sanju Samson scored his first half-century in international cricket. He had a record partnership of 176 runs for the second wicket with Deepak Hooda. The two players destroyed the Irish bowling attack and gave India an upper hand in the contest.

While Samson fell short of his maiden international hundred by 23 runs, Deepak Hooda went on to complete a ton. With that, he became the first Indian to score a century in men’s international cricket on Irish soil.

Hooda scored 104 runs off 57 balls in his innings today. He smashed nine fours and six sixes. In the previous match, Hooda remained not out on 47 runs. So in this series against the Ireland cricket team, he scored 151 runs before getting dismissed. Hooda will never forget this innings as he became the fourth Indian to score a T20I century.
