Suryakumar Yadav carved out a niche for himself as one of the best batsmen as far as the T20I format is concerned. The right-handed batsman has been making waves in the shortest format of the game with his fearless brand of cricket.

The Indian cricket team largely benefitted from the batter’s services ever since he made his T20I debut for Team India. It is worth mentioning here that the Mumbai-born cricketer has won more man of the match awards than any other player since he made his T20I debut.

Recently, he finished the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2022 tournament as the third leading run-scorer. He scored 239 runs in six games at a stupendous batting average of 59.75 and a staggering strike-rate of 189.68.

Overall, he smashed three half-centuries in the showpiece event in Australia. He took his batting to the next level when he slammed his second T20I century during the second T20I against New Zealand at Bay Oval.

He hogged the limelight by playing shots all around the stadium with such ease as he simply toyed with the bowlers by smacking 11 boundaries and 7 sixes in the passage of play. 

Suryakumar Yadav has been rested for the ODI series against New Zealand. Meanwhile, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri, reserved the highest respect for Suryakumar Yadav, by calling him one of the best players in the world.

Shastri who keenly keeps a tab on the Indian players’ performances across formats spoke highly of Suryakumar Yadav, while also adding that he is very much like Proteas’ batting great AB de Villiers.
