David Miller picks uncapped T20 international player in his all time T20 XI
David Miller has been a world class finisher in T20 cricket over a long period of time
The South African middle order batsman David Miller has picked his all time T20 international XI and surprisingly, he has picked a player who never ever played a T20 game at the international level.
While all the picks in the all time XI of David Miller is justified, he has picked Lance Klusener too which has raised a few eyebrows because Klusener never represented South Africa in the shortest format of the game.
By the time T20 cricket came to the fore, Klusener’s international career was almost over and while he has been one of the best allrounders South Africa has ever produced, it is surprising for him to be picked in an XI specifically based on T20 international cricket when he didn’t even play any T20 international cricket.
Miller’s special pick Lance Klusener would have been a quality T20 player in his time
However, it can be understood why Miller picked Klusener. Klusener was actually a cricketer who was ahead of his time and in an era where a strike rate of 70 was considered good enough in ODI cricket, he used to play at a much higher strike rate, batting lower down the order at no. 7.
Klusener was a very handy medium pace bowler as well who, on most days, could have bowled his full quota of overs. He could have been picked in any T20 team in the world if the shortest format of the game was around during his time.
Klusener, pretty much like David Miller himself, was a very hard hitter of the cricket ball and could clear any ground in the world against quality fast bowlers.
Apart from Klusener, the other South Africans that David Miller picked in his all time T20I XI are Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir.
The XI also features the T20 stalwart Chris Gayle, the current Indian captain Virat Kohli, the current West Indies captain Kieron Pollard, the former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, the former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee and another T20 stalwart Lasith Malinga.
