2022 has been the year of Sarfaraz Khan. The right-handed batter has earned everyone’s attention with his excellent performances in the domestic circuit. In the recently concluded Ranji Trophy season, Khan was the leading run-scorer among all teams. He played a pivotal role in Mumbai’s runner-up finish.

As per reports, Sarfaraz Khan will receive a place in the Indian Test squad for the ICC World Test Championship series against the Bangladesh cricket team. It was not so surprising because the Indian team is undergoing a transition, and Khan is one of the most talented batters in domestic cricket.

However, there was a time when Sarfaraz Khan almost left the sport. When he had to move from Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh due to personal reasons, he became quite emotional. He played for Mumbai in age-group level cricket, which is why he did not wish to switch from Mumbai to the Uttar Pradesh team.

In an interview with Sportskeeda, Sarfaraz said:

“I was determined to play for Mumbai so I told my father that if I play cricket, I will play for Mumbai or I will leave playing the game. I took a cooling period of one year and played club matches. I had a tough time but when I made a comeback I scored a triple hundred against UP.”

Sarfaraz Khan says he had a dream to score a hundred for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy Final

In the same interview, Khan disclosed that he dreamed to score a century for the Mumbai cricket team in the final of the Ranji Trophy. He accomplished the feat last month in the summit clash against the Madhya Pradesh domestic cricket team.

Unfortunately for Khan, his century ended in a losing cause as Madhya Pradesh won their maiden Ranji Trophy. Nevertheless, fans will always remember 2022 as the season of Sarfaraz.
