The Rajasthan Royals have made all the right moves ahead of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. They had a fantastic IPL 2022 Mega Auction, where they signed some big names like Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Nathan Coulter Nile, Prasidh Krishna and other stars. Now, they have added Lasith Malinga to their coaching staff.
Earlier today, the Jaipur-based franchise posted a cryptic tweet of the team’s all-rounder Riyan Parag wearing the wig of Lasith Malinga. Not many fans could understand what the franchise meant, but it was later revealed that the former Sri Lankan cricket team captain will join the team as their fast bowling coach.
Malinga is not the first Sri Lankan legend to be a part of the Rajasthan Royals coaching staff. Along with him, his former teammate Kumar Sangakkara will also guide the team’s players. Sangakkara is the Director of Cricket at the Rajasthan Royals, whereas Malinga is the fast bowling coach.
In case you forgot, Malinga is currently the leading wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League history. The right-arm pacer played for the Mumbai Indians till the 2019 season and was set to play in 2020 as well, but he retired from all forms of professional cricket when the season got postponed.
After spending two years with his family, the Sri Lankan star is now set to return to the Indian Premier League as the fast bowling coach of the Rajasthan Royals. The likes of Trent Boult, Nathan Coulter Nile, Prasidh Krishna and James Neesham will look forward to the tips from Malinga.

Previously, the Mumbai Indians signed former Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Jofra Archer at the mega auction and now the Royals have signed former Mumbai Indians bowler Lasith Malinga. Here’s how fans on Twitter reacted to the big news.
