Yuzvendra Chahal back to his best after World Cup snub

Rahul Chahar has been picked over Yuzvendra Chahal in the Indian squad for T20 World Cup

The RCB captain Virat Kohli is very happy with the way Yuzvendra Chahal is bowling at the moment, as he reckons the leg spinner has done a bit of work on his bowling in the offseason. Chahal has fallen off the radar of the Indian selectors after being one of India’s premier spinners in white-ball cricket not so long back.

The 31-year-old Haryana leggie was surprisingly dropped from the Indian squad that was announced for the T20 World Cup a few weeks back. The Mumbai Indians leg spinner Rahul Chahar was preferred ahead of Chahal. Although Virat Kohli, who is also the Indian captain, didn’t drop any hints that Chahal was back in frame for World Cup selection, he did insist that the wrist-spinner has shown signs of improvement.

“Chahal’s bowling pretty well now. It looks like he has worked on his bowling with all the time off. He’s back to bowling the way we know he can bowl. His bowling well is a good sign for the team, and we hope he can continue to do so. He has truly been magnificent with the ball,” Kohli was quoted as saying while talking to Harsha Bhogle in his post-match interview.

RCB lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad despite Yuzvendra Chahal’s efforts

RCB bowlers including Chahal collectively put on an excellent performance last night in the game against Sunrisers and restricted the men in orange to just 141 which should have been a relatively straightforward chase on most days in T20 cricket. But on a slightly tricky pitch where the ball was holding a little bit into the surface, RCB fell short of the target by 4 runs and lost an opportunity to finish in the top 2 in the table.

RCB still has a game in hand which they have to play against the table-toppers Delhi Capitals, but their Net Run Rate is so low that it’s virtually impossible for them to make up for it in one game. They have a slight chance only if CSK loses heavily to Punjab Kings, and then they manage to secure a massive victory over Delhi Capitals.
