Mumbai Indians have made a big announcement ahead of their last two matches of IPL 2022. The Mumbai-based franchise have roped in Uttarakhand’s right-arm fast bowler Akash Madhwal as a replacement for Suryakumar Yadav. Akash has never played in the Indian Premier League before and could start his career soon against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.

After losing nine matches in the season, the Mumbai Indians have been officially knocked out of the race to the IPL 2022 playoffs. The team management has decided to try some new players now that they have been knocked out of the competition. Earlier this season, fans saw that MI signed Kumar Kartikeya as a replacement and he impressed straightaway.

While Akash will get only one or two matches, if the Mumbai Indians team management decide, he could still earn a contract for next year if he impresses against the Delhi Capitals. Informing fans about the arrival of Akash, MI wrote on Instagram:

“Mumbai Indians have signed Akash Madhwal as a replacement for Suryakumar Yadav. He has been with MI as part of the support team and has now signed on to join the squad for the 2022 season. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and has represented Uttarakhand across all three formats of the game since making his debut in 2019.”

When is the last match of the Mumbai Indians team?

MI will play their last league game of IPL 2022 against the Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The match against the Orange Army is scheduled to happen tomorrow at the Wankhede Stadium, while the last game is against the Delhi Capitals on May 21.

It will be interesting to see if the Mumbai-based franchise can avoid the wooden spoon in this season. MI have never finished last in any IPL season. They need to win their last two games and hope CSK do not beat RR.
