Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore started their IPL 2023 campaign with an emphatic win over Rohit Sharma-led Mumba Indians at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Royal Challengers Bangalore were also the most consistent team in the Indian Premier League in the last three editions. RCB are the only team that made it to the playoffs in the last three seasons.
It remains to be seen if they can go all the way and make a bid for the first IPL title. Royal Challengers Bangalore finished fourth on the IPL 2022 group stage points table.
Besides that, they took their performance to the next level by getting the better of Lucknow Super Giants and also knocked them out of the competition in the Eliminator Clash.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders lost their opening encounter against Punjab Kings. The Mohali-based franchise won the game by seven wickets (DLS Method) at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.
