Liam Livingstone picks his all time T20 XI, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma left out
Liam Livingstone has named Jos Buttler the captain of his all time T20 XI
The England middle-order batsman Liam Livingstone has picked his all-time T20 XI and there are some very interesting selections in the team, however none undeserving.
What’s most interesting is that Livingstone has not only left out one of T20 cricket’s most flamboyant openers Rohit Sharma who has got 4 T20 international hundreds, he has also left out one of the most successful T20 skippers ever, MS Dhoni.
However, when you look at the names that Livingstone has picked, it seems a fair enough selection. To open the batting, Livingstone has gone with the former Indian T20I captain Virat Kohli and the current England vice-captain Jos Buttler whom Livingstone has also named the captain of his team.
Kevin Pietersen, AB de Villiers and Kieron Pollard form the middle order of Livingstone’s XI, and it might be the most destructive T20 middle order of all time, given the capabilities of these three batsmen against all kinds of bowling.
Liam Livingstone has picked the Pakistani legend Wasim Akram as the bowling allrounder
Andre Russell and Ravindra Jadeja have been picked as the two batting allrounders in Livingstone’s XI and then comes the most surprising pick of them all, Wasim Akram who never played a T20 international game in his career.
The reason why Liam Livingstone might have preferred Wasim Akram over so many other bowlers is despite being an old generation bowler, Wasim perfectly fit the template of modern-day T20 cricket. He could swing the ball both ways early on and could nail his yorkers consistently when needed at the death. Apart from that, he could hit a long ball as well and could have been the bowling allrounder of a modern-day T20 side at no. 8.
Rashid Khan is the specialist spinner Livingstone has paired with Ravindra Jadeja which is hardly a surprise because Rashid is unarguably the greatest T20 leg spinner of all time to date. After Rashid, two lethal fast bowlers, Jofra Archer and Lasith Malinga complete the composition of Livingstone’s T20 XI.
