India’s young cricketer Shubman Gill had a fantastic day at the office on Day 3 as he went on to score his maiden Test century in the first Test of the two-match Test series against the Bangladesh cricket team at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.

The youngster scored only 20 runs in the first innings before being dismissed by Taijul Islam. However, the young star made his presence count on the pitch when it mattered the most in the second innings.

He led the batting attack by example by playing a sensible brand of cricket wherein he went on to essay a memorable Test century. Shubman Gill ended up scoring 110 runs off 152 balls where he struck as many as ten boundaries and three sixes to his name.

Shubman Gill constructed a valuable 113-run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara for the second wicket. Gill drew plaudits for his exceptional batting performance against the Tigers.

After the end of the third day’s play, Shubman Gill said he had been talking with Virat Kohli about not getting the century in the longest format of the game. It seems Kohli must have offered him valuable batting tips to Gill.

The last time when Gill came close to scoring a century was during the fourth Test against Australia at The Gabba when he scored 91 runs. After scoring a century today, Gill said it has been special for him.

Meanwhile, Team India set up a humongous target of 513 for the hosts. Cheteshwar Pujara who missed out on a well-deserved century eventually went on to score a century at a swift pace.

Pujara remained unbeaten on 102 off 130 balls with the help of 13 boundaries and a strike rate of 78.46. Bangladesh ended Day 3 with 42/0 (12 overs).
