Sri Lanka is set to host Asia Cup 2023
Although Test cricket returned to Pakistan after a decade in 2019, there haven’t been many active tournaments played in Pakistan. Not long ago, Pakistan acquired the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2023, which is seen as the major tournament in Asia.
Pakistan thought that hosting this tournament would immensely boost the development of cricket and take the sport to the next level. However, things are not changing anytime soon as India have expressed that they are not willing to come to Pakistan, citing security concerns.
Moreover, BCCI also wants to ensure that the event is held at a neutral venue such that they can participate in the tournament. Earlier, there were reports that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have backed the BCCI’s decision to shift the Asia Cup tournament out of Pakistan. Meanwhile, as per the recent reports, it’s been learnt that Sri Lanka are set to host the Asia Cup 2023 tournament.
