Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by three runs to clinch their third win of the season. Although at the break, the game was inclined towards LSG, a stunning first over by Trent Boult made things easier for the Royals. On that note, in this article, we take a look at what Trent Boult had to say about the magic delivery which dismissed KL Rahul.

Chasing a score of 166 was perfect for KL Rahul and his side. They also had Marcus Stoinis in the XI and hence, the team had its nose in front after the first innings. However, Boult had other ideas. In the first over itself, interestingly, he came from around the wicket and bowled a nipping inswinger that messed with the stumps of KL Rahul. The LSG captain was out for a golden duck. Not stopping there, the Kiwi pacer also had K Gowtham out LBW in the same over, making it a terrific start for RR.

It was a brilliant move by Boult to get rid of Rahul. Speaking about the same after the game to the broadcasters, he said, “It was a late call at breakfast, and it was Jimmy Neesham’s idea to go with that plan against KL Rahul.” He jokingly continued, “I don’t want to give him too much credit.”

Talking about his role, the Kiwi speedster revealed, “My role with the new ball is to take as many wickets as possible. It’s a pretty simple game for me at the top and get it to swing.” Boult finished with figures of 4-0-30-2 and was instrumental in RR winning the game.

Rajasthan Royals got their tactics right on Sunday

After the loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore, RR got its tactics right on Sunday. The inclusion of Rassie van der Dussen and Kuldeep Sen made sense, while the retire-out of R Ashwin was one of the talking points of the game. The team is shaping up well and if they perform similarly, they can soon knock on the door of the playoffs.
