“India Won The World Cup That Year”- Twitter Reacts As CSK And KKR Set To Clash In The Opening Game Of IPL After 11 Years
The IPL 2022 season will start with a rematch of last year’s final between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders. The two teams battled in the final last year, where the Chennai-based franchise defeated the Knight Riders to win their fourth championship. The last time CSK and KKR played in an opening match of IPL was in 2011.
Incidentally, in that season also, there were two new franchises who joined the IPL, namely the Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The opening match of IPL 2011 saw CSK beat KKR in a low-scoring match.
The IPL 2022 Schedule was released yesterday, and the first match is the rematch of IPL Final. For the first time since 2020, the organizers have taken this route. In IPL 2019, MI battled CSK in the final match, and the same was the opening battle of IPL 2020.
In IPL 2020, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals were the finalists, but in 2021, the first match of the season was Mumbai Indians vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore. Also, this is the first time since 2019, that the Mumbai Indians are not in the first match of the season.
In IPL 2019, the first match of the new season featured the Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. CSK have a good record in the opening matches of IPL seasons, which is why fans expect the MS Dhoni-led outfit to get off to a winning start in IPL 2022.
