Harbhajan Singh has picked only two Indian players in his all time test line-up

The Indian veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has picked his all-time test XI which includes just two Indian players, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Harbhajan has overlooked the current Indian test captain Virat Kohli and the head coach Rahul Dravid, who are two of the stalwarts of Indian test cricket and two of the all-time great players of the game.

However, the players who have found a spot in the all-time test XI of Harbhajan Singh are the ones who belong to the highest standard themselves and nobody can question their spots. To open the batting, Harbhajan has picked Alistair Cook and Virender Sehwag who are not just the two greatest test openers of their respective countries, they are also completely different from each other in the way they approach batting.

With Cook and Sehwag opening the batting together and batting in their own distinct ways, it wouldn’t be easy for any bowling side to make inroads to the middle order and even if they make inroads, Harbhajan has a middle-order lined up of Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Waugh and Jacques Kallis. This is a middle-order which not too many bowling attacks would fancy bowling to because the outcome is likely to go only one way.

Steve Waugh will lead the all-time test XI of Harbhajan Singh

Steve Waugh is also going to captain Harbhajan’s XI, which is hardly a surprise considering the win-loss ratio of Waugh as a captain in test cricket. Kumar Sangakkara, who is one of the very few wicketkeepers to have an average of over 50 with the bat in test match cricket, will keep wickets for Harbhajan’s XI and will also be slotted to bat at no. 7.

Shane Warne is the sole spinner picked by Harbhajan Singh in his XI, while Wasim Akram who could also bat a little bit in the lower order, apart from being a very high-quality swing bowler, the former Australian medium-pacer Glenn McGrath and the England legend James Anderson will form the 3-man seam attack. Muttiah Muralitharan, who is the highest wicket-taker ever in test cricket, will be the 12th man.

Here is the all-time test XI of Harbhajan Singh which he announced while in conversation with Sportskeeda

Alastair Cook, Virender Sehwag, Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Waugh (C), Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara (WK), Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, James Anderson
