Delhi Capitals had some troubles off the field before their match against the Punjab Kings in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Capitals lost Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert’s services for a few days because both players tested positive for COVID-19. Even some members of the support staff contracted the virus. So, there was a question whether DC will play tonight’s match or not.
However, since the COVID-19 tests of other players returned negative, the Delhi Capitals are playing against the Punjab Kings now. The Delhi-based franchise won the toss and decided to field first. The venue for this match was changed at the last moment as the game was shifted from MCA Stadium to Brabourne Stadium.
Despite all the problems, DC have put on a solid show against PBKS and bowled them out for just 112 runs. It was a complete team effort from Delhi as Khaleel Ahmed, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Lalit Yadav picked up two wickets each.
None of the Punjab Kings batters could impress much as they got bowled out for one of the lowest scores in IPL this year.
Nothing but respect for this special bunch: DC co-owner Parth Jindal
Looking at the way the Delhi Capitals performed against the Punjab Kings despite the things that happened off the field, DC co-owner Parth Jindal was proud of the way his team performed. Here’s what he wrote on Twitter:
“Imagine sitting in a room for 4 days, finding out that a team mate you had dinner with has Covid, imagine being told that you still have to go and play the biggest tournament in the world and then imagine playing, having the opposition at 92 for 8 this is DC. Amazed, awe struck and have nothing but respect for this special bunch.”
