Mumbai Indians will have a few issues this season. They have some key players missing due to injury. Hence, for the franchise to do well, they will have to make good use of the ‘Impact Player’ rule. Their first game will be against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. If Rohit Sharma wins the toss, he might choose to bowl first. Here, we take a look at two players Mumbai Indians can use as the Impact Player if they bowl first against RCB.
1) Vishnu Vinod
Vishnu Vinod is an intelligent signing made by Mumbai Indians at IPL 2023 Auctions. The Kerala wicket-keeper batter can play across the batting line-up and is also quite experienced at the domestic level.
MI’s best bet if they want a batter as an ‘Impact Player’ would be Vishnu Vinod. He has the ability to play big shots while he can also gauge the situation and play accordingly if need be. Considering Chinnaswamy is good for the batters and Vishnu has played here before, he will be on the top of the list for MI.
2) Ramandeep Singh
Ramandeep Singh is one of the players Mumbai Indians can use as the Impact Player if they bowl first against RCB. Last season, MI used a bit of Ramandeep Singh and he had a few good outings with the ball. However, he is also good with the bat and would be a decent choice for MI.
In fact, if MI needs an extra seamer, they could have Ramandeep Singh in the first XI and might ask Hrithik Shokeen or any other young batter to be used as the Impact Sub. However, if Mumbai Indians are bowling first, they are likely to use Ramandeep as the Impact Player. Mumbai Indians do not have too many options and hence, they would want Ramandeep to be in good form.
