Fans were furious with the BCCI after they named Sanju Samson as the skipper of India A for the ODI series against New Zealand A. They lashed out at the governing body for not selecting him in the T20 World Cup 2022 and giving him opportunities in the A sides.
BCCI announces the squad for the A series against New Zealand
The Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) on Friday (16th September) announced the 16-member squad for the A series against New Zealand. Sanju Samson is back in the Indian setup and will lead the team.
Also, Prithvi Shaw has made a comeback after being out of the Indian set-up for a while along with Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul Tripathi in the side. Rajat Patidar and Tilak Varma, who has impressed many with their performances of late, have also been provided with the chance.
The likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Shahbaz Ahmed and Rahul Chahar will handle the spin bowling department whereas Kuldeep Sen, Shardul Thakur, Umran Malik, Navdeep Saini along with U-19 all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa will be the pacers in the side.

As BCCI named the squad for the A-side series, fans on Twitter fumed out at the BCCI over Sanju Samson’s selection. The keeper batter was notably dropped from India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. This broke out huge controversy as fans were unhappy with him.
Also reports recently emerged that fans of the keeper batter will go on protest after he wasn’t named in the T20 World Cup 2022 squad. Twitterati has now related Sanju’s selection in the A squad to this as they feel that BCCI was afraid of the selectors.
