​India scripted a remarkable victory at the Oval to surge ahead in the ongoing Test series by 2-1. Even before the start of the last day of the contest, the scales were heavily tipped in favour of the English force.
However, India compelled a sudden turnaround with some brilliant and devastating spells from Bumrah and Jadeja, leaving England crippled.
The last day drama from India
Shardul Thakur opened the floodgates as he removed the big man in Rory Burns. A lightning-fast run-out by Mayank Agarwal got the better of Dawid Malan.
That is when India inflicted severe damage upon the English as the duo of Jadeja and Bumrah bagged four wickets in a span of six runs.
Root and Woakes did manage to stir up some resistance, but it wasn’t enough for the English contingency to brush India aside.
It was once again Shardul Thakur who came back to the attack and claimed the big fish of Joe Root. From there on it was just a matter of time before Umesh Yadav did the finishing honours.

It was an exceptionally valiant fightback from India after a collapse on the opening day of the Test. Thakur’s persistence with the bat in the first innings and his scalp of Joe Root set the tones Right.
Rohit Sharma belted out an impeccable knock to dismantle England in the second innings, but it once again summoned interference from Thakur and a decent showdown from the tail to help India post a monumental target.
Rohit Sharma was adjudged as the man of the match, while Shardul Thakur was given a special pat on his back for his defining showdown.

India will head to Manchester for the fifth Test, and they will have to be without their coaches as the entire coaching team has tested positive for COVID-19. The fifth Test match will begin on September 10th.
