Indian captain Rohit Sharma eventually ended his century drought by smacking his 30th ODI century in the third and final ODI against the New Zealand cricket team at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
The last time when Rohit Sharma scored his 29th ODI century was against Australia in Bengaluru in 2020. Since then, he struggled to produce a triple-digit score in the 50-over format.
Although he scored half-centuries, he failed to convert them into big scores as he used. He recently missed out on scoring a century against Sri Lanka as he scored 83 off 67 balls (9 fours, 3 sixes).
Rohit Sharma even scored a half-century against New Zealand in the second ODI. He played pretty good shots and gave us hope that he would go on to score big in the upcoming games.
Rohit Sharma smashes his 30th ODI century
The Indian captain ended his century drought by smashing his 30th ODI century. The 35-year-old played with grit and determination as he brought up his century off 83 balls.
He constructed his innings with the help of nine boundaries and six hits over the fence at a strike rate of 118.82. In the process, he also matched Australia’s batting great Ricky Ponting’s overall tally of 30 centuries in ODIs.
The Indian captain is just a hundred away from surpassing Ricky Ponting’s tally of 30 ODI tons. Rohit Sharma has a great chance to achieve the feat during the three-match ODI series against the Aussies.
