Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, who have nine IPL trophies between them, endured a difficult run in IPL 2022. Both franchises ended with just four wins in the tournament. Known for their massive fanbases, MI and CSK will aim to make a strong return next season. They will have to make use of the trade window and the auctions wisely to improve their squads. However, CSK and MI could end up having a few common targets before the next campaign. In this article, we take a look at three players both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings must target in the trade window and IPL 2023 Auctions.

1) Chetan Sakariya

While Mumbai Indians employed Daniel Sams as the left-arm seamer, CSK used Mukesh Choudhary for the role. However, the drawback in both these experiments was that Sams and Mukesh are not known for their skills at the death.

All-phase bowlers in T20 cricket are helpful and Chetan Sakariya is a promising player in that category. He has had a lack of opportunities in Delhi Capitals and it won’t be a surprise if he is released. There is also the option for teams to target him in the trade window. Hence, both CSK and MI could be after him.

2) Kartik Tyagi

Kartik Tyagi is one of the players both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings must target in the trade window and IPL 2023 Auctions. If we take a look at the squads of MI and CSK, both teams lack a good Indian pacer who can support the main Indian pacer – Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar.

Kartik Tyagi is one for the future and like Sakariya, he is also facing less game-time in Sunrisers Hyderabad. Therefore, he is also one of the players on this list.

3) Sam Curran

Sam Curran missed IPL 2022 because he was recovering from an injury. However, the English all-rounder is all set to make a comeback next season.

While CSK will target their ex-player, MI might consider Curran to be an upgrade over Sams. Moreover, in the long-term vision, Curran is a solid investment. Hence, we could see a bidding war for the cricketer at IPL 2023 Auctions.
