As per reports, Mitchell Starc will reportedly play in IPL 2024. If that is the case, the elite pacer that he is, many teams would be in the queue to sign the cricketer. However, signing him will come with its own set of risks. Starc’s T20 performance after the powerplay is not great these days and he can also be injury-prone. Hence, a few franchises might actually not go for him in the IPL 2024 Auctions. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three IPL franchises that may not target Mitchell Starc for IPL 2024.

1) Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings cannot afford Mitchell Starc in the playing XI and hence, they may not be in for him. The team already has some good powerplay pacers and Starc may be excess to requirements.

Also, With Devon Conway, Matheesha Pathirana and a spinner occupying three overseas spots, the remaining spot will have to go to either Moeen Ali or Ben Stokes. In this context, signing Starc at a high price may not benefit CSK.

2) Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH is one of the IPL franchises that may not target Mitchell Starc for IPL 2024. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Marco Jansen are already available in the squad as the left-arm pacers. Considering the future, they seem to be sufficient.

Also, in SRH’s combination, three overseas batters are a must. Therefore, relying on someone like Starc for the last spot may not be a wise thing, especially after the poor season they had.

3) Punjab Kings

Both Sam Curran and Arshdeep Singh can bowl in the powerplay for PBKS. Someone like Kagiso Rabada can also be useful here.

Hence, it does not make sense to have a bowler of similar type on the roster. Also, PBKS might have to focus on other areas and hence, signing Starc does not seem feasible.
