On January 7th, during the third Twenty20 International between India and Sri Lanka at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Suryakumar Yadav made his third hundred in T20Is. It took the right-handed batsman only 45 deliveries to accomplish the feat.

The veteran now joins Rohit Sharma as the only Indians to score three or more hundred in Twenty20 Internationals. He also recorded the second-fastest T20I hundred by an Indian in T20Is after moving past KL Rahul, who has a 46-ball century to his credit in the shortest format against the West Indies back in 2016.

Whenever Suryakumar Yadav is at the crease, the crowd can anticipate a good show. The same thing happened again on Saturday in Rajkot, India, during the third Twenty20 International between India and Sri Lanka. Batting at No. 4, Suryakumar sped to his third T20I century in only 45 balls as India easily scored in the decisive game of the series. He hit eight sixes and six fours over his innings.

He entered to bat in the sixth over and launched the attack from the eighth over. Starting off against Chamika Karunaratne, he scored a four and a six. There was no way to stop the India vice-captain after that. In the eleventh over, he was extremely brutal, hitting Karunaratne for two consecutive sixes. One of the most remarkable things about Suryakumar’s innings was the way he shifted around the crease to strike the bowler from impossible positions.

Earlier, India skipper Hardik Pandya decided to bat against Sri Lanka in the last T20I of the three-match series at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Saturday. India lost by 16 runs while chasing a target of 207 runs, however, they didn’t make any changes to their starting eleven for this match. Each of the two teams in the series has won one game thus far.

There was one change to Sri Lanka’s starting lineup from their last game. India hasn’t lost a home T20 series since February 2019, so they’ll be eager to take care of business in the final game and sweep the series.
