Royal Challengers Bangalore kick-started their IPL 2023 campaign with a win over Mumbai Indians. However, they faced back-to-back defeats over the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants.

Needless to say, they churned out a win over Delhi Capitals in their fourth game. After that, they locked horns with Chennai Super Kings in the most iconic Southern Derby at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

RCB lost the game by 8 runs at their fortress, in what was their third loss this season. Meanwhile, RCB’s paceman Mohammed Siraj made the headlines today after he reported a corrupt approach to BCCI ACU from an unknown man who wanted inside information about his team after losing plenty of money in an IPL match.

Mohammed Siraj reports a corrupt approach to BCCI ACU

For the record, the BCCI ACU (Anti-Corruption Unit) is the unit primarily responsible for securing the integrity of cricket in India. It is also a part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Mohammed Siraj got a call and then he quickly approached the matter to ACU officials. The BCCI ACU is solely responsible for stopping and investigating corruption or malpractice in Indian cricket.

Notably, the BCCI ACU has an active team of investigators and intelligence officers who ply their trade to identify and stop corrupt activities happening behind the scenes in Indian cricket.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj did the right thing and he drew plaudits for reporting the serious matter. He is the leading wicket-taker for Royal Challengers Bangalore with eight wickets to his name.

“It wasn’t a bookie who approached Siraj. It is a driver from Hyderabad who is addicted to betting on matches. He had lost huge money and approached Siraj for inside information. Siraj reported the approach immediately. The law enforcement authorities have nabbed the man. More details are awaited,” a senior BCCI source privy to the developments told PTI on condition of anonymity
