Shreyas Iyer was earlier ruled out of the three-match ODI series against the New Zealand cricket team owing to a stiff back. The right-handed batsman flew all the way to the National Cricket Academy to begin his recovery.

Recently, he didn’t get clearance after he was not fully fit. There has been no confirmation on whether or not Iyer will be back to play the first Test match against the Aussies, which is just less than a week away from getting underway.

The first Test of the four-match Test series will go all guns blazing on February 9 at VCA Stadium in Nagpur. If reports doing the rounds are to be believed, Shreyas Iyer is expected to miss out on the first Test.

On February 2, Thursday, he didn’t join the India squad for a preparatory camp in Nagpur. Once he gets fitness clearance at the NCA, he will be eligible to participate in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. It is expected that Shreyas Iyer will be back in cricketing action for the second Test on February 17 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
