Indian captain Rohit Sharma was last seen in the team’s semi-final fixture of T20 World Cup against the England national cricket team at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. Rohit Sharma came under fire for his poor display of tactics in crunch situations in the showpiece event.
India suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the England cricket team as they lost the game by 10 wickets. Meanwhile, the 35-year-old veteran cricketer has been rested for the upcoming tour of New Zealand.
Team India will lock horns with New Zealand in the three-match Twenty20 International series. After that, they will play in the three-match One-Day International series. Hardik Pandya is the stand-in captain of Team India in the T20I series whereas Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team for the ODI series.
Salman Butt suggests Rohit Sharma to work on his fitness
The Indian team management also made it clear that many senior players won’t be playing much T20Is next year, keeping the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in mind. The BCCI wants the senior cricketers to focus on the 50-over format.
Meanwhile, former Pakistani cricketer, Salman Butt is of the opinion that Indian captain Rohit Sharma should work on his fitness. Butt felt that Rohit Sharma didn’t look fit in the first place.
He further added that the 35-year-old looked lazy and lethargic on the field. However, he went on to term Rohit Sharma as a top player despite his poor form of late.
Last but not least, Salman Butt added that Team India would largely benefit from the services of fitter Rohit Sharma. The Indian captain recently came under fire for his string of poor scores in the T20 World Cup 2022.
Barring a half-century against the Netherlands cricket team, the veteran cricketer didn’t seem to be confident in his batting approach as he wasted too many deliveries inside the powerplay overs. Fans would hope that Rohit Sharma would work on his fitness and make a stellar comeback in the ODI format.

Do people realise that fitness is a concept that has NOTHING to do with abs? Like people call him unfit only because he doesnt have abs while he himself is able to take runs field and everything with no issue whatsoever? And that’s basically their internalised fatphobia talking? https://t.co/PWGzlJtcIe
