“First Time He Bowled With Cricket Ball Was In 2017”- A Journalist Explains Why Fans Should Not Troll Umran Malik

Umran Malik has grabbed all the headlines with his raw pace in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. The right-arm fast bowler is one of the few Indian talents who can bowl at 150 kmph consistently. However, Malik’s accuracy has not been the best.

Because of that reason, Malik has proven to be expensive in IPL 2022. The Sunrisers Hyderabad team management has shown full faith in him. They retained him over some experienced names ahead of the IPL 2022 Auction and paid him INR 4 crore.

Umran Malik has conceded 39 runs each in the two matches he has played in IPL 2022. He returned with figures of 2/39 in the match against the Rajasthan Royals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. In the next match against Lucknow Super Giants, he gave away 39 runs in three wicketless overs.

A journalist named Mohsin Kamal urged the fans on Twitter not to judge the fast bowler so early. Explaining the reason behind it, he wrote on the micro-blogging platform:

“Before trolling #UmranMalik, you should know the first time he bowled with a cricket ball was in 2017! He has only played a total of 13 matches (3 FC, 1 LA and 9 T20s) so far, including 5 in #IPL! He is still raw and in learning phase. Please give him some time before bashing him.”

While some fans were busy trolling Malik for his expensive economy rate in IPL 2022, many members of the cricket universe also showed support to him. The tweet that Mohsin Kamal posted has received more than 7,000 likes within 24 hours.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their next match in IPL 2022 against Chennai Super Kings. It will be interesting to see how Umran performs against big names like MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa and Dwayne Bravo in that match.
