India defeats South Africa by 8 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the series

In what was a difficult pitch to bat on, the Indian Cricket Team put on a staggering effort with both bat and ball to win the game by 8 wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Opting to bowl, Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh (3/32) and Deepak Chahar (2/24) made a mockery of South African batters and reduced them to 9/5. A decent knock by Aiden Markram (25), Wayne Parnell (26) and Keshav Maharaj (41) then helped South Africa post a total of 106 runs on the board.

Chasing the target, India lost skipper Rohit Sharma for a duck and Virat Kohli for 3 runs. But after that unbeaten 93-run partnership between KL Rahul (51*) and Suryakumar Yadav (50*) sealed the game for India in the 17th over.

While Suryakumar Yadav continued his carnage on the bowlers and smashed a fiery fifty, Rahul looked clueless and his knock wasn’t pleasing as he struggled most of the time and punished only bad balls.

He batted with a strike rate of 91 and at one stage he had 14 runs in 31 balls. Although he ended up getting a fifty it’s fair to say that his innings was full of struggle.
