Deepak Chahar Will Not Undergo Surgery; Likely To Play For CSK In 2nd Half Of IPL 2022

In a positive development for the Chennai Super Kings team ahead of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, the franchise’s Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar will reportedly be available to play in the second half of the season.

CSK fans were worried after Chahar, who was the team’s most expensive signing at the mega auction, returned to the dressing room during the third T20I of the series between the Indian cricket team and the West Indies cricket team. He also missed the T20I series against the Sri Lankan cricket team because of that reason.

Soon after, reports emerged claiming that Chahar would miss most of the matches for the Chennai Super Kings team in IPL 2022. However, according to The Times of India, the pacer will not undergo surgery and he is aiming to join the CSK camp as soon as possible.

“It’s understood that the CSK pacer is likely to be fit to play by the middle of April. He is currently undergoing an eight-week rehabilitation program at the NCA in Bangalore,” a report by TOI stated.

Will Chennai Super Kings sign a replacement for Deepak Chahar in IPL 2022?

Considering the latest reports, it is highly unlikely that the Chennai Super Kings will sign a replacement for Deepak Chahar. The right-arm pacer can recover soon, so if CSK signs a replacement, Chahar will be unavailable to play even if he is fit. Thus, CSK may not take that risk.

The latest update has all but confirmed that Deepak will miss the first match of IPL 2022 scheduled to happen between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. Last year when CSK and KKR faced off in Mumbai, Chahar returned with a four-wicket haul. His services will be missed this year. It will be interesting to see how CSK performs in his absence.
