The Indian speedster Umran Malik, who is consistently cranking up speeds of more than 95 miles per hour in the ongoing IPL 2022, has hailed the former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn for guiding him consistently right the league.
Umran had cranked up very high speeds in a couple of games in the last IPL season as well, but what he has shown this season is that he can also have control of his direction and lengths, while not compromising with his speeds.
Generally, when a bowler cranks up speeds over 95 miles an hour, the expectation from him is that he might blow teams away, but he might also go for runs on certain days because it’s not easy to have control of the direction and lengths while bowling at that speed.
And, it has happened with Umran this season where the batsmen have been able to use his pace and score runs when he has been a little wayward, but it has happened only in a couple of games. In most of the games, the Jammu speedster has bowled with both pace and control and has put on match-winning performances.
I have copied that (punch) celebration from Dale Steyn: Umran Malik
Umran Malik was in a conversation with Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the official website of IPL after last night’s game against Mumbai Indians where he revealed that Dale Steyn has worked very hard with him in the nets during this IPL season.
According to Umran, whenever he bowls in the nets, Dale Steyn stands behind him and keeps a keen eye on his bowling and he doesn’t just leave after giving advice or two. He stays with him for hours and keeps advising and guiding him about how he can become a better version of himself while continuing to bowl at a high pace.
Umran also revealed that he has copied his punch celebration, which has gone very famous this IPL, from Steyn only.
