“Cricket Is Very Unpredictable”- Rahul Chahar Talks About Playing For India In T20 World Cup

Rahul Chahar was one of the most impressive young players in the previous few IPL seasons. Donning the Mumbai Indians jersey, Chahar scalped wickets at regular intervals and played a vital role in MI’s success. Courtesy of his incredible performances, Chahar earned a place in the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

However, the right-arm leg-spinner did not receive enough opportunities to play in his first-ever ICC T20 World Cup. The team management preferred the duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Ravichandran Ashwin ahead of him. Chahar got to play only one match against Namibia, where he returned with figures of 0/30.

Chahar has not played a single match for the Indian cricket team since the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The leg-spinner is aiming to make a comeback. In an interview with Sportskeeda, Chahar was asked if he is thinking about the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to happen in Australia later this year.

“I personally don’t think too far. My job is to focus on the matches at hand, and I believe cricket is very unpredictable. I don’t look into the future. My focus is to do well for Punjab, and that is the only thing on my mind,” the leg-spinner replied.

Rahul Chahar will play for the Punjab Kings under Mayank Agarwal’s captaincy in IPL 2022

The Mumbai Indians did not retain Rahul Chahar ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The leg-spinner was a part of the auction pool this year, where the Punjab Kings signed him.

Chahar will don the Kings jersey for the first time in his IPL career. It will be interesting to see how the leg-spinner performs for his new franchise. PBKS will play their first match of the season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday evening. Chahar is likely to be a part of the first playing XI of PBKS.
