Indian Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara selected his ideal 360-batsman with the best shots from some of the greats of the game. However, what came as a surprise was he left out Virat Kohli’s cover drive. The batter arguably is the best hitter of that shot.
Cheteshwar Pujara builds his 360° batters; leaves out Virat Kohli’s cover drive
In an interaction on EPSNCricinfo Chesteswhar Pujara was asked to choose characteristics of his ideal 360-degree batter m. The right-hander named Sachin Tendulkar straight drives the best-ever straight drive in the business and he would like his ideal batsman to have that.
For the cut shot, Pujara picked former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara whereas, for the cover drive, he named Rahul Dravid, leaving out greats such as Kumar Sangakkara and Virat Kohli.
For the pull shot, India’s No.3 in Test picked Ricky Ponting whereas, for the reverse sweep, he named AB de Villiers. Pujara, who is the lynchpin of India’s batting order in Tests, picked a sweep shot of Mathew Hayden in his ideal 360 degrees batter.
Jos Buttler’s scoop shot and Chris Gayle’s six down the ground is what Cheteshwar Pujara was left amazed by and will want to have in his batter.
