3 players who could go unsold despite setting a low base price in IPL 2024 Auctions

A few players, especially from the other nations, would be desperate to play in the Indian Premier League. Hence, keeping aside what they have achieved, they set their base price low. This could help them attract a bid or two from the IPL franchises. However, the dynamics are such that even then, these players might not get a bidder at the event. Here, we take a look at three players who could go unsold despite setting a low base price in IPL 2024 Auctions.

1) Wayne Parnell – INR 1 Cr

Wayne Parnell came in as a replacement signing for RCB last season. He did not take a long time to impress as he collected some crucial wickets in the powerplay.

He has been in the scene for a very long time. Hence, a base price of INR 1 Cr is actually less for him. Even then, he might fail to get a bid. This is mainly because of his inconsistency and lack of required skills outside the powerplay.

2) Ashton Agar – INR 1 Cr

Ashton Agar is one of the players who could go unsold despite setting a low base price in IPL 2024 Auctions. He actually happens to be one of the best left-arm spinners going around. However, he often goes under the radar.

Agar might yet again not get a bid at the auctions. Usually, left-arm spinners are there in every IPL franchise. Unless the quality is of someone like Mitchell Santner, teams usually do not buy players of this attribute. Also, Agar’s batting is not as good as that of Santner. Hence, he might go unsold.

3) David Wiese – INR 1 Cr

A veteran in the T20 format, Wiese has played for franchises across the globe. He has also single-handedly helped his nation win a few games.

While he did attract a bid last time around, it might be hard this time. This is despite his base price being very affordable for a player of his experience and quality.
