Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is currently nursing a thumb injury that he sustained during the second ODI against the Bangladesh cricket team in Dhaka recently. As a result, he was ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series followed by the Test series.

The Indian stalwart jetted off to Mumbai in a bid to consult with the doctor for further medical assistance. He was expected to be back in action for the second Test in Dhaka starting on December 22 but he failed to recover from the thumb injury.

Earlier, KL Rahul led the team for the first Test against Bangladesh in Rohit Sharma’s absence and since the latter didn’t recover from the injury, KL Rahul is expected to lead the team in the second Test match again.

The second and final Test between Bangladesh and India will take place at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on coming Thursday. The opening Test match went in favour of the visitors as they won the game by 188 runs in Chattogram.

Rohit Sharma will be available from the series against Sri Lanka: Report

Meanwhile, in the latest development, Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be back in cricketing action from the series against Sri Lanka starting on January 3, according to Cricbuzz.

Sri Lanka’s tour of India comprises three T20Is followed by three ODIs and the tour kick-starts with the T20I series, with the first game scheduled to be played on January 3 in Mumbai.

The second T20I begins on January 5 in Pune whereas the third and final T20I will go all guns blazing on January 7 in Rajkot. On the other hand, the first of the three-match ODI series begins on January 10 in Guwahati.

The second ODI will kick off on January 12 in Kolkata whereas the third and final ODI begins on January 15 in Trivandrum.
