Chennai Super Kings are crossing swords with Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final. The high-voltage encounter which was supposed to be staged yesterday is currently being staged on May 29, Monday.
The rains played spoilsport last night. However, the fans are happy that the final is being held now. The game is taking place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Talking about the game, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni won the toss and invited Gujarat Titans to bat first. CSK got off to a good start in the form of Deepak Chahar who conceded only 4 runs in the first over.
However, things literally changed all of a sudden as Gujarat Titans’ opening pair – Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha scored runs at a rate of knots and added a 67-run stand before Gill was stumped by MS Dhoni off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling.
Wriddhiman Saha scores a stellar fifty against CSK in IPL 2023 Final
Gujarat Titans’ wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha hogged the limelight as he scored a superb half-century against Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL 2023 final.
He produced a much-needed spark by scoring runs at a rapid pace. Saha targeted the CSK bowlers in the powerplay overs by scoring useful runs for the team.
For the record, Saha scored a scintillating century for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the IPL 2014 final against Kolkata Knight Riders. Sadly, he ended up on the losing side.
He scored 54 off 39 balls including 5 fours and a six before he was dismissed by Deepak Chahar in the sixth ball of the 14th over.
Chennai Super Kings’ playing XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali. Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (c & wk). Deepak Chahar, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana

That 115* was something else.
Felt gutted that Punjab didn’t win that day – although Manish played fantastically too.
