Every cricketer goes through ups and downs in his life and as far as Virat Kohli is concerned, he literally had shortcomings whenever he was coming out to bat. It felt as if he was losing his confidence levels after getting dismissed for cheap scores for quite a while.
He was also long been slammed for his inability to score a century in international cricket. However, he rose from the ashes and went on to end his century drought in international cricket after nearly 1012 days.
He achieved the feat during the Asia Cup 2022 match against the Afghanistan cricket team. Moreover, it was his maiden T20I century and it was a perfect way to get back on track ahead of the T20 World Cup.
India’s run-scoring machine not only finished the Asia Cup as the leading run-getter for the Men in Blue but also went on to become the leading run-getter of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Kumar Sangakkara showers praise on Virat Kohli
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s batting great Kumar Sangakkara has reserved the highest respect for India’s all-format batsman, Virat Kohli. While speaking to SportsTak, Sangakkara praised the Indian stalwart by calling him “phenomenal”.
He also highlighted that Virat Kohli is literally back on track after his performance in the T20 World Cup. The run machine finished the tournament with 296 runs including four half-centuries.
Kohli also recently ended his ODI century drought by scoring his 44th century in the 50-over format. He accomplished the feat during the third and final ODI against the Bangladesh cricket team as it took him 40 months to end his ODI century drought.
Virat Kohli will be next seen in action for the three-match ODI series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka will begin on January 10 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium. The right-handed batter will be looking forward to scoring one more century in the series.

It's true that Virat Kohli is a phenomenal player, but I'm not sure why Kumar Sangakkara would be so enthusiastic about him coming back when there's clearly someone else who had an even more phenomenal performance in the World Cup. #justsaying
