Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim backed Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh to play in the Indian XI despite a poor outing in the game against Hong Kong. He feels that young pacers need to gain more experience and the team cannot axe them after one bad game.

“You cannot take any of these players out of playing XI based on one bad performance,” says Saba Karim

Although the Indian Cricket Team has qualified for the Super 4s stage, bowling has been one of the major concerns for them. Their pace battery apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar has struggled and with no other pacer in the squad, it can turn out to be a big problem for them.

Arshdeep Singh did reasonably well against Pakistan but looked off-colours against Hong Kong as he conceded 44 runs and took just 1 wicket.

On the other hand, Avesh Khan has struggled to bowl in the right areas and was taken for runs in both matches. Following his poor performance, many have lashed out at him and have raised calls to drop him from the side.

However, Saba Karim doesn’t feel that India should back the young bowlers. Speaking to India News, he said:

“Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh should get more to gain experience. You cannot take any of these players out of playing XI based on one bad performancePlaying a game against Pakistan is always important [regardless of their form], and you should not make any changes in that game,” Saba Karim said.

Saba Karim backs Bhuvneshwar Kumar to be in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been the top pick for India as a pacer as in both matches he was economical and was also among the wickets.

His impressive four-wicket haul also helped India to bundle out Pakistan for a low total and helped India win the match with his bowling performance.

Saba Karim feels that Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be in India’s World Cup squad and he’s in top form.

“There should be no questions about Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s place in the T20 World Cup. He has the experience and form. He is bowling beautifully and of course, there will be one or two matches where the seamers will be punished, and it should not break the trust,” he said.
