Royal Challengers Bangalore had their fate in their own hands in IPL 2023 but lost their chance. Nevertheless, the team has a good core and will be expected to do well next season. The overseas contingent of RCB was pretty decent in IPL 2023. While many players will not feature in the World Cup, some of them have got a chance to show their skills. In fact, it can be said that it was a surprising selection for a few of these players. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two RCB players who surprisingly got selected for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

1) David Willey

Sam Curran is one player who is very important to the English side. While he can operate with the ball at either stage of the innings, he is also worthy with the bat. With so much that he offers, he is unlikely to be dropped from the playing XI.

David Willey is a similar player and hence, it was a surprise to see him also selected. ICC allows only 15 players to be picked and with Reece Topley also finding a mention, having three left-arm pacers in the squad was a bit surprising. Nevertheless, it is a fine opportunity for Willey. If he does well in this event, he can extend his stay with RCB.

2) Reece Topley

Reece Topley is one of the RCB players who surprisingly got selected for the 2023 ODI World Cup. While he individually merits a spot in the World Cup side, the combination that England was dishing out, it was a surprise to see Reece Topley.

He has played ODIs often but can be inconsistent. When it comes to fitness, it’s a big issue. With players of similar fitness issues such as Mark Wood on the side, Topley was a surprising addition to the setup for England.
