Babar Azam and his teammates are having trouble finding their footing in the 2022 T20 World Cup. So far, they have only triumphed in one of the three matches that they have participated in. However, their encounter against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground did help to set the stage for the main event, which was attended by more than 90,000 people in addition to the millions who watched from home.
Virat Kohli’s undefeated 82 off 53 helped India chase down the difficult 160-run goal in the last ball of the battle, which lived up to the expectations of the competition and went right down to the wire. Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 82 off 53 helped India win the match.
Arshdeep Singh took control of the game early on, but Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed pulled off a miraculous comeback to bring Pakistan’s score down to 159/8 in 20 overs.
In their reply, India lost four wickets with just 31 on the board; however, a century-and-a-half stand between Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya got the Men in Blue back into the game. Even though Pandya was out in the last over of the game, Kohli made sure that India ended on a positive note after putting up a brave fight.
Simon O’Donnell, a former all-rounder for Australia, had some views to share on the match. He referred to it as “amazing,” and he said that it will be exciting news for the fans of both nations.
He went on to say that there are now talks taking on to organise either a one-day international (ODI) series comprising Australia, India, and Pakistan, or a test match between the two countries.
“It was magnificent sort of stuff, to the level that I can say there will be discussions being had, or discussions are being had to play a Test match here. There’s also the possibility of a triangular One-Day series between India, Pakistan and Australia or a Test match between India and Pakistan. My word is there are [conversations happening] in the wake of this [T20 World Cup clash]. There are already discussions taking place,” he stated.
