India has produced three of the sport’s all-time greats in Rohit Sharma, his predecessor Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni. Hardik Pandya, a player in both formats, previously explained the secret to his team’s success.

Pandya told Sports Tak in 2020 about the guidance Kohli provided him to help him succeed at the international level of cricket. Kohli advised Pandya to “be hungry” for success if he wanted to follow in his footsteps. According to Pandya, Kohli encouraged him to push himself without bringing others down.

In the last year, Pandya’s fame has skyrocketed. He was released in 2021 but returned in 2022 to win the Indian Premier League championship with the Gujarat Titans. In the white-ball forms, he also holds the position of vice captain for India.

Pandya emphasized that each of these three players has the same goal: to be the best in the world in their sport. However, if they don’t make it there, they don’t beat themselves up and stop trying. When asked what he has to do to improve as an all-rounder, Pandya was clear that he must work hard at batting and bowling.

“Now I know how and why Virat [Kohli] is so consistent. Players like Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni – they don’t like being at No. 2. At the same time, if these players come second, they don’t mind that either,” Pandya told Sports Tak once.

“They want to be No. 1, but their greatness is such that if they come at second place, they have no problems. They will restart the process of hard work to be No. 1,” he added.

In Twenty20 Internationals, he has batted 718 times for a total of 718 runs at a strike rate of 139.15 with three fifties. He has a strike rate of 18.67 and has taken 27 wickets.
