Chennai Super Kings’ opening batter, Ruturaj Gaikwad is currently the leading run-scorer in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The star cricketer has perfected the art of producing good starts for the team.
During the team’s opening fixture against Gujarat Titans, Gaikwad led the batting attack by example. He pitched in with an impeccable 92 off 50 balls including 4 fours and 9 sixes at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
His impactful knock helped CSK post 178/7 in their designated quota of 20 overs. However, he ended up on the losing side as Gujarat Titans went on to chase down the target with four balls to spare.
I am not looking at Orange Cap: Ruturaj Gaikwad
The Maharashtra-born cricketer continued his tremendous touch with the bat as he brought up yet another half-century in the second game against Lucknow Super Giants at CSK’s fortress, Chepauk.
Playing at this venue for the first time in his career, Gaikwad got off to a scintillating start by taking the opposition’s bowling attack to the cleaners. In the process, he went on to score a brilliant fifty.
He ended up scoring 57 off 31 balls including 3 fours and 4 sixes before he fell prey to Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling in the first ball of the 10th over. Currently, Ruturaj Gaikwad has 149 runs to his name from two games.
After the game, the CSK star echoed that he is not really looking at Orange Cap in the first place and emphasized that he is looking forward to giving good starts and contributing to the team in the best possible manner.
Gaikwad is totally aware of the fact that CSK failed to operate as a team in the previous edition of the IPL where they finished ninth on the points table. CSK will lock horns with Mumbai Indians in the next match on March 8, Saturday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Type of opener we need in international team but we have mugs like Pill and Nohit. His mentality is different from others. https://t.co/skMOGTLgBY
