India and Australia are currently locking horns in the last game of the Border-Gavaskar series 2023 in Ahmedabad. With the series being stranded at 2-1, the visitors won the toss and decided to bat first, in what has been a good batting surface.
Indian bowlers bowled some tight lines and lengths upfront but Australia openers Travis Head and Usman Khawaja showed great patience after watching out a few deliveries, they unleashed themselves and scored runs with good pace.
Head (32) and Khawaja (27* at the time of writing this piece) gave a solid start to their team and scored 61 runs for the opening partnership. But R Ashwin struck on time as he removed Head to provide his team with the much-needed breakthrough.
After that, Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne looked settled against spinners but skipper Rohit Sharma outfoxed them with a brilliant change as he brought back Mohammad Shami into the side. The pacer troubled the right-hander and then rattled his stumps for just 3 runs.
The brilliant bowling of India saw them making a staggering comeback in the second half of the first session. In the first 15 overs, Australia scored 61 runs without losing a wicket but the last 14 overs was a display of extraordinary bowling as they conceded just 14 runs and took 2 wickets.
