R Ashwin completes 5000 runs and 700 wickets in first-class cricket
Veteran Indian off-spinner R Ashwin has set the stage on fire in the ongoing second Test against Australia in Delhi. Not only he has left an impact on the game with the ball but he has taken responsibility with the bat as well.
Ashwin first spun the web with his staggering bowling performance. He picked three wickets with the ball out of which two were of Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith. He removed No.2 and No.2 batter in the span of just three balls and then later removed Alex Carey.
With the wickets in the first innings, Ashwin also completed 700 FC wickets and also became the second Indian bowler to take 100 wickets against Australia.
If this was not enough, he then came in the middle of a crisis when India was tumbling with the bat. He stepped with the bat this time as he smashed a crucial run for his side and bailed his side out of trouble.
Ashwin stitched 100 plus runs partnership with Axar Patel, who smashed a fifty and was batting at 37* at the time of writing this piece. With the runs he scored, he also completed 5000 runs in the FC as well.
