Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli was the talk of the town after his imperious batting performance against the Sri Lankan cricket team in the third and final ODI at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.
The 34-year-old cricketer made his presence count at the pitch ever since he came out to bat for the team. The right-handed batsman went about his business and chipped in with yet another masterful performance.
The senior cricketer recently became the fastest cricketer to score 12,500 runs in One-Day Internationals. Besides that, he also went past Sachin Tendulkar’s overall tally of most hundreds scored against Sri Lanka.
Hasan Ali posts a special tweet after Virat Kohli scored his 46th ODI century
While Sachin Tendulkar scored eight centuries against the Sri Lankan cricket team in the 50-over format, Virat Kohli notched up his 10th ODI century against the Sri Lankans in the third ODI.
It was also Virat Kohli’s 46th ODI century in his cricketing career. Soon after he chipped in with a huge milestone, Pakistani international Hasan Ali took to his official Twitter handle and then showered praise on Kohli.
The paceman took to Twitter and wrote that the 46 centuries belong to the Great Virat Kohli. His tweet received more than 90k likes on the micro-blogging Twitter portal, with the majority of the users from India praising Hasan Ali for crediting Virat Kohli.
Talking about the game, Virat Kohli was the pick of the batters as he scored an unbeaten 166 off 110 balls. He constructed his innings with the help of 13 boundaries and 8 hits over the fence where he maintained a strike rate of 150.91.
His top innings helped Team India post 390/5 in their designated quota of 50 overs. On the other hand, Sri Lanka messed up the run-chase miserably as they were bowled out for 73 runs as India scripted the biggest-ever win in One-Day Internationals. The Men in Blue won the game by 317 runs and inflicted a 3-0 whitewash on the opposition.
