Indian captain Rohit Sharma was last seen in cricketing action during the second semi-final fixture against the England cricket team in the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2022 tournament in Australia.
Under his captaincy, the Men in Blue qualified for the semi-finals of the competition by winning four games out of the five games. India accumulated eight points, more than any other team in the Super 12 stage.
However, they failed to pull off the trigger in the game when it mattered the most in Melbourne. England cricket team humiliated the Indian cricket team by winning the game by 10 wickets at the MCG.
Rohit Sharma came under fire for his terrible captaincy as his bowlers failed to show intent by not taking any wicket in the game. The 35-year-old has been rested for the ongoing tour of New Zealand.
Rohit Sharma started hitting the nets ahead of Bangladesh tour
Hardik Pandya led the Indian cricket team in Rohit Sharma’s absence in the three-match T20I series. Under his captaincy, India won the series by 1-0. Now, the ODI series between India and New Zealand has already kick-started.
The first ODI between India and New Zealand came to a close today at Eden Park in Auckland. New Zealand switched gears by taking the first lead in the series by beating India by seven wickets.
Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will return to cricketing action for India’s tour of Bangladesh which is scheduled for the month of December. India will play three ODIs followed by two Tests against the Tigers.
