Fans on Twitter were unhappy with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) for their picture choice after India’s loss in the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cup. They expressed their disappointment with the franchise for posting Virat Kohli’s photo after the loss last year and uploading the team’s photo after the defeat this year.
India faces second successive loss in the T20 World Cup
After the group stage exit in the T20 World Cup 2021, many expected the Indian Cricket Team to make a strong comeback in the ongoing 2022 edition of the tournament. Following the loss in last year’s event, India changed their approach and adopted an aggressive template, which raised the hopes of many.
The Rohit Sharma-led side had a good preparation ahead of the tournament as they reached Australia early and played additional warmup games. They play a fantastic brand of cricket in the group stage and they ended the group on the top.
India defeated Pakistan in their opening game and apart from the game against South Africa they won all their group games and were slated to take England in the semi-final. Many backed them to beat the Three Lions and even go on to win the tournament.
But it wasn’t the case as, in what has been their story since 2014, they yet again failed to handle the pressure of the knockout games and were at the receiving end of a 10-wicket thrashing at the hands of England.
As India suffered the loss against India, many expressed their disappointment including IPL franchise Mumbai Indians. They posted the picture of the team on their Twitter account with heartbreak emoji. Notably, they posted a picture of Virat Kohli when India lost in 2021.

As Mumbai Indians posted a picture of Team India after their defeat against England, fans on Twitter compared their picture choice for this year and the previous year. They assumed that the franchise blamed Virat Kohli alone for the loss in 2021 and in 2022 they were unhappy with the whole team. Here are some of the reactions:

We are never going to forget what they did to kohli either. Sacked him from test captaincy to rohit who dont even deserves to be in test team and is always injured during overseas tours.

I think & I only think things are a bit quite than 2021 this time, because India still played SF & more importantly won the Pak game. 2021 we were more furious becoz we lost to Pak as well as knocked out at super 12. Virats unnecessary overwoke comments added fuel to fire.
