Poonam Yadav becomes eighth Indian cricketer to sign a WBBL contract
WBBL will start after the completion of the India-Australia T20I series
The Indian leg spinner Poonam Yadav has been signed by the Brisbane Heat to feature in the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). She is the eighth Indian women cricketer who has been given the opportunity to feature in WBBL, which is probably the biggest league in women’s cricket at the moment.
Apart from Poonam, the other Indian women cricketers who will take part in the upcoming WBBL are Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav and Richa Ghosh.
Mandhana and Harmanpreet have been a regular feature in most of the foreign leagues around the world in the last few years. They have played in WBBL quite a few times before and apart from that, they have played in the Kia Super League as well which is the county-based T20 competition in England.

However, now from the modern generation, a lot of other cricketers are joining Mandhana and Harmanpreet and are putting on an exhibition of their skillset in foreign leagues like WBBL.

BCCI has, so far, only organized IPL exhibition matches for the women cricketers with three teams Trailblazers, Supernovas and Velocity, but many people want a full-fledged women’s IPL now.
