R Ashwin did not have a memorable outing in IPL 2025. CSK is looking at the future, and there is a chance that they might release Ashwin. Ashwin would still have bidders because of the value he adds. Here, we take a look at the list of three teams which might target R Ashwin if CSK releases him.
1) Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals need an Indian leader in the spin attack. That was one of the main reasons why the team lacked balance in IPL 2025. With someone like Ashwin, who has played before for RR, the team can balance itself better in IPL 2026.
2) Lucknow Super Giants might target R Ashwin if CSK releases him
It won’t be a surprise if LSG releases Ravi Bishnoi because Digvesh Rathi is doing better. However, LSG might need some more experience here, and hence, a player like Ashwin makes sense. If there is a collapse, he could come up with the bat, as well.
3) Sunrisers Hyderabad
The SRH spin-attack struggled in IPL 2025. It was Zeeshan Ansari who was leading the attack for a while. An experienced spinner like Ashwin is a necessity for the franchise. He adds stability to the bowling attack in the middle-overs with his wily variations.
