Indian Cricket is at its lowest at the moment. The whitewash by New Zealand will have a big impact on the future of the side. Now, there is also an immediate challenge and it is a tough one. If India fails to do well here, there could be plenty of changes in the Indian Cricket Team. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three major things which could happen in Indian Cricket in BGT 2024/25.
1) The end of a few eras
The home Test series against New Zealand might have already ended the careers of a few players at home. Now, in the BGT, it could be the end of a few Test careers for some players altogether.
BCCI is under pressure to take some tough decisions and hence, we could see the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma leaving their spots for youngsters if they fail to step up in Australia.
2) Change in Indian Test captaincy
Change in Indian Test captaincy is one of the major things which could happen in Indian Cricket in BGT 2024/25. If not during the series, it will surely happen at the end of it, especially if the team does not do well in the competition.
Rohit Sharma is under the scanner both as a batter and as a skipper. If India does not do well and fails to qualify for the WTC Finals, it is pretty sure that BCCI will make a strong statement. Jasprit Bumrah or Rishabh Pant could be in line to replace Rohit as the Test skipper.
3) Change in the tenure of the Indian Head Coach
In the recent years, BCCI has never sacked an Indian Head Coach. In fact, all of them had an extension in their tenures.
However, it could change if India does not do well in the BGT. Gautam Gambhir could be shown the door, especially after the loss at home, too.
